Hotel Allegro

We recently stayed at the Hotel Allegro in downtown Chicago. I was really impressed by the lobby decor and some of the historic touches that were maintained in the building like the elevator doors.

The elevator doors had a great art deco pattern in brass that you would just never see done in a new building. They add so much character to the space.

Historic touches like this were combined with very contemporary selections in the rest of the decor - bold graphic wallpapers abound and there was a whimsical mural-type wallcovering behind the front desk and repeated in the two-story grand stairway. As you know, I love animals, and the rendering style on the murals here was so captivating without venturing into "precious" or "cutesy".
